5 professional software for 3D prototyping

Niuo

With Niuo and online 3D prototyping you can transform your ideas from digital to physical in an agile and intuitive way, but you will need the right software to make your STL files. Scroll through the article to learn tips from Niuo's team of experts!
Before we begin: what is an STL file?

The STL format is the most commonly used file format for 3D printing. Since its earliest uses,it has been adopted and supported by many CAD software packages. Today it is widely used for rapid prototyping, 3D printing, and computer-aided manufacturing.

5 CAD software for rapid prototyping:

AutoCAD

Among the products that stand out the most in the industry we certainly find Autodesk, AutoCAD whose importance in the CAD world is comparable to that of Photoshop in the world of image editing.
It is an exceptionally versatile tool that includes features and tool sets specifically for engineers, architects, graphic designers...in short, for many types of projects.

But are there viable alternatives to AutoCAD? Continue reading the article!

BricsCAD

BricsCAD is best known for having advanced features in both 2D drafting and 3D modeling. In fact, those familiar with AutoCAD will notice similar interfaces. It then contains an extensive library of third-party applications, such as plug-ins that enhance user functionality.

It is fully compatible with models, blocks and sheets created in AutoCAD.

Direct 3D modeling tools are available with the Pro subscription (and later versions). The Lite edition offers only 2D drawing tools. The Platinum edition offers more advanced features than even AutoCAD, including sheet metal modeling. For those who wish to use the software long-term, BricsCAD also offers perpetual licenses for about twice the price of an annual license, plus a small annual maintenance fee to keep the software up-to-date.

CMS IntelliCAD

CMS IntelliCAD supports both 2D and 3D modeling techniques and works natively with DWG files and allows digital signatures just like AutoCAD.
With a very intuitive layout, IntelliCAD is available in several versions. The cloud-based version, known as "Easy Run," is offered through an annual subscription and can be accessed anywhere.

GstarCAD

GstarCAD is a comprehensive alternative CAD tool with high compatibility with AutoCAD.

The program is designed so that you can switch seamlessly from AutoCAD, with a familiar interface and command-line functionality. GstarCAD supports both DWG and DXF files and allows you to import layouts, blocks, and printers from AutoCAD, making it really easy to move between programs.

GstarCAD is offered primarily under a perpetual license, with an option for an annual subscription for those who prefer the AutoCAD licensing system.

ZWCAD

ZWCAD is a true alternative to AutoCAD. This 2D and 3D CAD program from ZWSoft may not be as popular, but it is perhaps the one that best replicates the core functionality of AutoCAD.

At first glance, ZWCAD's interface looks almost identical to that of AutoCAD, making the transition from one program to the other very smooth. The similarities go beyond appearance in that it also features command bar functions similar to those of AutoCAD, even adopting the same names for most of its commands!
